This hat did double duty as my Studio X project, and as a prop for my students who are celebrating Dr. Seuss week.

My husband collects tops and I used one to make a tiny "top" hat.

Housewife Head-Dress

Traveling in the Rockies during this Studio X assignment, I noticed lots of Indian Chief paraphernalia, most notably the chieftain headdresses.  These "hats" celebrated all the accomplishments of the chief (a feather for a bear, a feather for a lion, and so on).  This modern head dress celebrates the numerous and unsung accomplishments of the typical housewife, with a feather for nutrition, guard duty, SAT tutoring, fashion design, banking and finance, health care ...  and so on.
