Project Storm: Schadenfreude
|
Written in 2005,
after the tragic fiasco of Hurricane Katrina, when the Iraq war was becoming a quagmire, during the Scooter Libby trial, and
when our country -- unbelievably -- was debating whether torture was OK, this poem reminds us not to indulge in "schadenfreude",
a German noun meaning to take malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others.
