Drip, Drip, Drip

The image of a plain white page going on and on brought instantly to mind the rows and rows of tombstone crosses at Arlington National Cemetary.  This, in turn, brought to mind Iraq where, just before the assignment was due, the death toll for American soldiers reached 4,000.  The black background symbolizes the endless tunnel without light, oil, and mourning.  And the drip, drip, drip of blood, tears, and treasure.

Empty cells in an abandonded hive is becoming more commonplace in recent years.  This work depicting bees leaving the hive, is in response to the recent phenomenon scientists have termed Colony Collapse Disorder.  In the background, cherry blossoms are among the numerous species that risk suffering the effects of this disorder.
