Sun: The Source Of Light And Heat Power

I started my paper mache project with many layers of tissue paper, red
to yellow and then paint. Straws with tissue are glued and painted. Small slits show layers and sun surface activity.

Solar Max

This sculpture is made of paper mache on poster board, paint, iridescent glue, and steel wool. I was inspired
to create this piece after seeing a program about the solar max. The solar max occurs on an 11 year cycle and features
explosions of boiling plasma, matter speeding through the galaxy at a million miles an hour, structures that are bigger
than the sun itself. Google "solar max" to learn more about this source of all energy on our planet earth.

This project is a battery operated light show. It
uses very new-fangled lights that change from color to color across the spectrum.

This water color describes how we have heated our homes through the
ages. Wood, gave way to radiant heat (from coal or wood), and finally we need to be moving towards solar energy.
Note how the background goes from smoky and on the dark side at the left of the painting, to clear and bright silver skies
on the right.

This super-size battery just wouldn't sit still on my desk. So,
I took it apart and found -- big surprise -- the energizer bunny! The battery is made of an orange juice can and the
rabbit is made from Femo clay.

Chakra-mobile

I chose a mobile as an appropriate form to represent energy because of its
constant motion. The "wired" form and the crystals on the wheel show the seven personal energy centers (chakrahs)
in the spine.
